Sesame Street/Katy Perry Opinions

It seems that I'm right in saying that the Sesame Street/Katy Perry fiasco is quite amusing and quite silly but this was from a point of view of a teenager which Sesame Street doesn't aim it's audience at me. So I thought I'd enlist the help of parent blogger, Nickie at Typecast whom I've worked with many a times and I've asked for her opinions on the matter which she made some interesting points about the video:

"IMHO they should have made her wear a lightly less risqué top for a children's programme but that is exactly how she appears in her "suitable for children" pop videos.  If she was dressed differently then maybe the young audience wouldn't have recognised her."

She later goes on to say:

"If PBS hadn't pulled the episode then it would have blown over within two days. 

Now that they have, (and it is still available for viewing on YouTube) it is still being spoken about.  In effect they have generated more media coverage for themselves AND Katy Perry, who just happens to have a new single out."

I can totally see what she means and I agree completly. Personally, I don't know why PBS didn't see this coming before even considering to book Katy Perry. Perhaps popular musicians are starting to become less kid-friendly then they were ten years ago (Lady Gaga and KeSha instantly spring to mind) and I guess Sesame Street are still adjusting to that.

In this post, I thought I'd highlight the things that I meet with everyday in my own area of study, work and play:

1. This is my guard lion which, for the moment, is suspended from a lanyard given to my aunt on her trip to Canada. Every desk should have one.

2. Mail and stuff of interest all held in a neat letter separator thing. A couple of things you'll find there are  WH Smith vouchers to be redeemed, a Blue Jays decal and the Sunday Times' Magazine profile on Lady Gaga. And a cable for something.

3. My notebook. It's almost never used daily but I find it useful to note down photography shoots which make up most of my daily thoughts. Note how it's never useful stuff, like chemical symbols for example.

4. My computer of choice (and a damn fine one too); Apple MacBook. I am forever using this when I'm bored or when I want to talk to friends on the internet and it's not that bad at it. Laptops are far more superior in my humble opinion.

5. Coffee. It's a must. This tumbler however was designed by Tri-costal Designs and I love it's typographic design.

6. BlackBerry and iPod. They're great buddies and surprisingly still going strong after years of abuse.

7. Notepads, stickynotes and other bits and bobs. Mainly used to keep notes to myself and for people to give me notes too. I'm such a traditionalist.

8. Various pens of various colours. I looooove my pens particularly the red one.

9. GO JAYS!

Feature Sunday: Water

On Tuesday, Nottinghamshire had been hit with a massive rainstorm and it was conveniently timed during my lunch which I do not take kindly to. At all. But I thought more carefully; Water can be a great thing to photograph and it could be a lovely way of showing how unpredictable the world is. This feature will show the great photos I've seen this week which you drench your mind with.. ugh:

I need your help, dudes...

I'm having a bit of trouble with the focus of this picture and It's been bugging me so much so that I'm planning on shooting it again. Any advice you can give me?

3 Weird things that interest me

I'm no average person. Nobody is and nobody can be. We're all weird in our own way. For example, I'm known for being much more weirder than my friends having a great interest in the technology and how it works; Something my friends know little about. I've been thinking, I'm quite interested in a couple of things which is not really common and granted and I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in this things:

Interior Design


I love interior design and how people design the way rooms lock and feel; places where people work in particular and I'm a massive fan of people who take how their desk looks seriously. It's one of the weirdest thing I've found myself to be an enthusiast mainly because of how a messy person I am. Rarely do I find myself cleaning or clearing things away and I'm oh-so lazy yet I love a clean, organised desk. wtf?

Sweden


I have some kind of unhealthy liking to Sweden and Swedish culture. At the moment, I'm trying my best to learn Svenska and I'm also finding myself watching SVT (Sweden's BBC) and I'm also finding myself listening to Sveriges Radio which I'm listening to now.

The London Underground

Have I mentioned that my favourite mode of transport is little under 100 miles away from me? No, well that's why I always see it as a novelty. I love the company culture that TFL puts into the London Underground and I guess that's another reason why I love it so. Also it's a very convient way of travel.

The Gallery: A Smile

My brother has a funny smile. It amazingly does not exist. I could have taken another one where he did smile but that is quite hard to do so I settled for a photo which I perceive to be my absolute favourite portrait I have taken. I touched it up and of course, I changed the colour settings a bit and Joe seems to like this picture a good bit

New site design

Hey everyone. I've drastically redesigned the website after getting a couple of critiques from my friends whom are interested in design. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

A photographer's note

I've been meaning (to write this damn blog) to get into the habit of taking photographic notes of subjects that I find quite interesting among my daily routine when I'm without my camera. Not only this, but uploading these said notes. I took a couple today which I will have to get around to quite soon and I will be sure to post them when I have taken these photos.

Anyway, I'll be trying to make a habit of taking this pictures with my phone as a visual reminder of things I find lovely and forgetful.

Thank god (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?!)

So yeah. Lovely to see that this whole 9/11 Qur'an fiasco is no behind us and the day went peacefully along, I guess. While on the subject, I would like ya'll to go check out the photographs the BBC took throughout the day; some of them are magnificent.
